The only one that I really knew about was White Chapel, and that was after reading a book about jack the Ripper. However, there are so many strange place names. In recent months, I have made a little list out of quirky London place names and started to look into them. When I don’t have a date at Balham escorts, it is really easy to become bored and I need something to do. I simply pick up my mobile device and check out some of the name online. It is really interesting what you can learn. For instance, most of the names with gate in them, actually mean there was a gate there at some time or another. These gates were the entrances to London in the Middle Ages.
As the capital grew, it took over a lot of farm land, and this is why you will find some rather rural names on the London street map. When you all of a sudden see something with farm in the name, it probably means that it used to be a farm. One of the gents that I date at Balham escorts has done a lot of research into these farm names, and it is really interested. Did you know that ham actually is an abbreviation for hamlet which means village? I did not know that before I started this project.
One of the reasons that I love living in London so much is because it has such an interesting history. You can just walk around and spot some interesting names and places. The water level changes in the Thames rather a lot, and sometimes you see things that you would not normally see.
When I get enough information together, I plant to write a little book about London. It will be one of these eBooks. I don’t think that I would be able to do that at all. I have never felt surrounded by history before, but it certainly feels like that now. To be honest, I am even thinking about becoming a mud lark because the history of London fascinates me so much. I could just imagine myself in a pair of wellies going around picking up things from the banks of the Thames.
